Microflex gloves are primarily associated with the medical field and there are several types of microflex gloves used by medics. They are basically meant to prevent the transmission of disease carrying micro-organisms from the patient to the medic. In the US, manufacture of medical gloves is regulated by the federal government through federal laws and regulations. The implementation of these regulations is overseen by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
All medical gloves are categorized as reserved devices in class I. As such, they are regulated and controlled by the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act sections 513 (a)(1)(A) and 21U.S.C 360c(a)(1)(A). Some of the components of this act include:
