A small town in North Carolina is home to the Johnny Cash tribute band The Folsom Prison Gang. Being a long way from Folsom didn’t stop this band from creating America’s leading Johnny Cash tribute show that has been performing at festivals , fairs, theaters and other live music venues since 2007. Performance are like seeing an Instant Cash band that is full-throttle Johnny Cash from the first beat all the way to the last with virtually no breaks in between. The Folsom Prison Gang is the real deal that seems to be just fine being “second best” as they have never claimed to be an impersonation act or anything that tries to mimic the late, great Johnny Cash. As the name suggests, their shows are a respectful “Tribute” to the Man in Black that presents the music in a way that both young and old will enjoy and find entertaining. Most of the songs performed are mostly true to the original arrangements although they do take liberty on a few songs leaving an interesting, yet still respectful, arrangement to the original song.
In early 2011 The Folsom Prison Gang released a CD that contained 10 of their favorite Johnny Cash songs that they covered in their own style.
