White gold is the name under which meerschaum is known by many enthusiasts. Meerschaum is a hydrous magnesium silicate, found in Turkey and Tanzania, Africa. The German word meerschaum translates into sea foam, referring to the millions of little sea creatures that formed this material millions of years ago. Venus of the Sea and White Goddess also refer to this material that has been used for pipes since the 1700s. Turkish meerschaum pipes are crafted from this unique material.
