The Rosehill Theatre is happy to announce that the West Cumberland Choral Society will present its delightful program on Friday, the 15th of June, 2012. The music will include new folk songs by Hugh Turpin as well as works by Jenkins, Bob Chilcott and Rutter. Enjoy this event in one of the most intimate theatres in the UK, which has maintained its character as a “rose-red silk-lined jewel box” since it opened in 1959. The Rosehill encourages local talent and community events as well as having showcased great names from the music and theatre worlds. It also features comedy and young people shows, talks and films.

The Rosehill Theatre is situated atop the hills above Whitehaven in the Lake District of the county of Cumbria in northwest England. Cumbria is one of the United Kingdom’s most sparsely populated counties and yet is the third largest ceremonial of England’s counties by area with some of the country’s most picturesque scenery. It contains every mountain peak in England that is over 900 metres (3,000 feet) above sea level, with Scafell Pike at 978 metres (3,209 feet) being England’s highest point.

A weekend stay in the Lake District Cumbria means a family holiday or romantic getaway in a large choice of accommodations. There are self-catering holiday cottages, bed and breakfasts, luxury hotels, a lodge or campsite. All such places offer exceptional hospitality and many amenities.

While there in Cumbria, you may want to do some exploring.

The Lake District National Park has outstanding natural beauty and serves as an inspiration for artists, musicians and writers. Many outdoor activities include cycling and rock climbing. You can stroll through art galleries, art exhibitions, shops, restaurants and many cozy pubs and inns.

The Carlisle Castle is a majestic medieval fort that has watched over the city for more than nine centuries. Visitors can walk through the dungeons, ancient chambers and stairways and hear the fascinating stories of Bonnie Prince Charlie and Mary Queen of Scots. There is also the Border Regiment Museum which features the King’s Own Royal Border Regiment as well as the local Militia.
